Visit to Foshan: Promoting cooperation between Germany and China in the field of AI and manufacturing

Foshan, an economically important city in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong, was the focus of a high-level visit on December 12 aimed at promoting Sino-German cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and manufacturing. Yijun Yu, founder of Sino-Cooperation , and Ma Juan, President of the Steinbeis Foundation for the China Region, met on site to explore the potential of this dynamic economic region in more detail. Foshan, one of the country’s economically strongest cities with an impressive 17th place in China’s GDP ranking, is a major center of the manufacturing industry, which accounts for more than 50% of local economic output. The city is actively driving the development of an innovative model with a focus on “AI+manufacturing”, demonstrating its ambition to take a pioneering role in Industry 4.0.
The Steinbeis Foundation, a global network with over 1,100 transfer centers and around 5,100 experts, brings extensive expertise to this cooperation. The aim of the visit was to analyze the specific requirements of the manufacturing industry in Foshan with regard to artificial intelligence and to develop tailor-made solutions that build a bridge between German cutting-edge technology and the needs of the local economy.
“The city of Foshan, with its strong industrial foundation and openness to innovation, offers ideal conditions to create new synergies between Germany and China,” explained Yijun Yu. ”Our cooperation with the Steinbeis Foundation will play a key role in driving the integration of AI into manufacturing processes and promoting sustainable partnerships between the two countries.”
